In 1998 there was a horrific fire that destroyed much of the inventory of my late Grandfathers pallet & lumber business. He had accumulated thousands of shipping pallets and many were destroyed. The entire field was a hot mess of scorched earth and scrap metal. All the burnt rubble was bulldozed into piles and never properly cleaned up. It wasn't until 2012 that we really began to focus on restoring our 8 acre property. We started tree planting that year and began cleaning up all the overgrown scrap metal and remnants of old pallets. There is still much work to be done, but every day a little progress is made.

During the years that followed the great fire, the old forest rose from the soils of the earth once again. Trembling aspens, eastern cottonwoods, willows and other wild natives blossomed out of the disaster. Staghorn Sumacs, gray and red osier dogwoods flowered and fruited. Remnants of the great fire are still preserved in the now growing little forest, but each year it becomes more difficult to notice.
We grow many varieties of trees, most from locally collected seed. White cedar for hedges and windbreaks. Honey locust as a nitrogen fixer and as a living fence. Fruit & nut trees for food and firewood. We supply trees for any project, big or small! We believe that permaculture, agroforestry and regenerative farming techniques can improve yields as well as the overall health of our plants. We sell most of our plants bare root or in small peat pots that are completely biodegradable. We specialize in multipurpose plants that provide economic, environmental and sustainable benefits.
Aaron is a Certified Seed Collector with the FGCA. It is important to know the seed you collect and be aware of hybrids, invasive and non-native species. Every season Aaron collects many seeds from our local area. Each year we introduce new species of trees, fruits, shrubs and more. Some of the first trees we planted in 2011 are now providing us with new seeds for farm. We are always looking for new varieties to add to our collection!
We have a small orchard of fruit and nut trees. Each year we add new varieties to our collection. We have started growing our own rootstock and hope to have a wide variety of fruit trees available for purchase very soon!
This all needs some editing, but thanks for exploring our site! We will try update regularly! :)
In addition to growing plants, we also build small, simple pieces of furniture & woodcrafts. All of our wood is sourced from locally harvested timbers. Check out The Workshop and Lumber Yard section of our store where we offer a small collection of items. Every item sold greatly helps my tree planting efforts as those funds are reinvested into the growth of the farm. Thank you for all your support!
We have a great admiration for old hand tools and form a deep connection with some. Here we will post a collection of a few of our favourites!
Here’s a collection of our personal favourite woodcrafts that we’ve created over the years.
